HRSG Bypass Stack System

Bypass stack system has a three-way valve that discharges exhaust gas from the GT, either into the atmosphere via a by-pass stack or into a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). As well as high capacity, it surpasses the norm in terms of geometrical sealing, sealing pressure and closing time, while reducing maintenance and easing transportation and assembly. This new diverter also allows for a rapid transition from single cycle to combined cycle systems.



HRSG bypass dampers are installed between the gas turbine and the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) of a combined cycle power plant. Therefore, dampers must be designed for the extreme conditions they are subjected to. The advanced damper system includes a robust design, efficient operation and increased reliability. The dampers are designed with safety in mind, reducing operational hazards and maintenance costs while increasing uptime for more direct power generation.


The multi-blade design also enables more operational control, so operators can better match the output of the steam generator to the existing load, increasing efficiency. Without the damping system, the only control parameter available is to limit the output of the gas turbine, resulting in a loss of marketable power.
