HRSG Bypass Stack System
The gas turbine bypass system diverts flue gas from the heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) in combined cycle mode to a bypass stack with a muffler assembly for operation in simple cycle mode. The HRSG can then be serviced as the diverter completely isolates it from the gas turbine.
Another use of the bypass diverter system allows combined cycle operation during the day and simple cycle operation at night when power demand is lowest. Additionally, the diverter allows the gas turbine to generate electricity even when the steam turbine cycle is shut down due to planned or unplanned outages.
