Shutter Type Main Stack Damper
The frame shall transfer all dead loads, induced wind shear load and wind moment load as calculated at the proposed location, consequentially the damper shell thickness shall be the same as the thickest stack shell in which it is located. The damper blades shall operate freely with any of the imposed calculated loads transmitted through the damper frame.
The HRSG Stack Closure Damper is provided to slow HRSG component temperature decay rate by limiting convective heat loss through the HRSG and stack following gas turbine shutdowns.
The Shutter type Main Stack Damper shall be a four (4) blade assembly with self-relieving
counter weighted linkage design using opposed blade rotation. Actuator and linkages shall be configured to drive all blades open during normal operation.
The configuration will also allow a damper blade to open independently of actuator position if the damper differential pressure is greater than 5 inches (125 mm) of water column. The damper linkage design shall be such that repetitive, self-relieving events can occur without maintenance activities like shear key replacement.
The design gas temperature of the damper shall be 50º F (28º C) greater than the saturation temperature corresponding to the lowest safety valve set pressure on the LP Boiler. Selection of materials and thermal expansion requirements will be based on this temperature
