Electric Main Stack Damper

The Main Stack Damper is provided to slow HRSG component temperature decay rate by limiting convective heat loss through the HRSG and stack following gas turbine shutdowns.

The damper shall be provided with an electric actuator sized for the damper operating torque as specified . The full opening time shall not be greater than 50 seconds. The electric actuator shall be in accordance with GE Standard Equipment Specification for Motor Operators. The actuator shall be supplied with a hand wheel operator.

The damper shall be designed for local control and remote operation from the

plant Intergraded Control System or Distributed Control System.

The actuator shall be sized for 1.5 times the maximum required torque due to

pressure loading, dead weight (blade weight plus snow/ice), and frictional load

from the mechanical components while driving the blades.

Three limit switches to indicate the open position and one limit switch to indicate the closed position shall be located on the non-driven damper blade shaft on the opposite side and end from the electric actuator or drive. Each switch shall consist of SPDT electrically independent contacts, arranged to operate when the damper is in the designated position. The limit switch contacts shall be rated 120 V AC, 5 amps 125V DC, 0.5 amp, inductive break. A removable cover or weather shield shall be provided over the shaft- mounted limit switch assemblies to prevent exposure to the atmosphere (rain, snow, ice,etc.)
